Fall Mushroom Foray!

Today was the perfect fall day for wild mushroom foraging.  Every year at this time Long Point Eco-Adventures pairs with The Blue Elephant for a great day of wild mushroom foraging followed by a great lunch prepared by The Blue Elephant!  

Join Naturalist Robin Tapley, and the Blue Elephant’s Executive Chef Heather Pond on the annual wilderness and culinary adventure of mushroom hunting, wine pairing, and culinary delights from the diverse regions of the Carolinian forests.

Your adventure @ “Brew Camp” awaits you.  Come and experience the Blue Elephant Brew house business behind the scenes.

Our brew camp is where great and wild ideas mess together. From the local farms, to local hop yards to our kitchen cupboard we experiment with new techniques and ingredients to push the craft brew concept a little further. Incorporating farm fresh local product like Riesling grape skins, sweet potato, baked local apples, fresh strawberries ,local sour cherries etc. etc.

In 1992, The Blue Elephant opened its doors. Our mission? To provide high-quality cuisine, both local and international-styles, using fresh ingredients grown within our renowned local agricultural industry. Over the years since, we have become a local landmark, and have been consistently evolving to improve the Blue Elephant experience. In 2012, we opened the doors on our Microbrewery to become Norfolk’s first-and-only “Tied House” (Pub + Microbrewery), crafting beers that used the same commitment to fresh, locally-grown ingredients as our restaurant. The Blue Elephant

After growing up in Norfolk County, Heather Pond-Manorome travelled the world as a chef with an international hotel chain. Now she has returned home to showcase the flavours of local produce in her signature dishes. The oak-grown shiitake mushroom cream soup is to die for, as are many of the other menu items. With not one but two patios, the Blue Elephant in Simcoe is also a great place to stop for a cold drink.
